Candice Glover who has put out her single I Am Beautiful, is our Season 12 American Idol Winner in 2013.  I'm so happy I tuned in this season.  It was an honor and a pleasure to watch so many talented people this season.  Before I go any further you guys this is probably going to be a very long, but entertaining post.  I have to cover Candice Glover's journey, fashion lows and highs, singles sang by the contestants that blew me away, idol tours, and the finale.  So stay tune and I hope you enjoy!

 Candice stated she has been trying to be an Idol star for 3 years now and last year when she tried out she didn't make the cut, but my, my, my oh how things have change.

Here's is Candice at this season's auditions.  I want to give you a timeline of how much Candice has grown.  I'm not sure if American Idol really showed Candice's audition.  I only remember seeing her during Hollywood round and it was only like twice, but I remember thinking to myself that girl can sing, but I don't know if she is American Idol material. 

I didn't agree with all of Candice's song choices, because I felt she was trying to please American and the judges, rather than tapping into her true roots, which are R and B.  I don't really see her doing that pop thing.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, because this may be her style,
but one thing I do not want you judging plus size girls on is they are covering up what they don't want the camera's to see.  Now that is a true statement, but you just can't say it.

We also learn Candice Glover album will be out July 16, 2013 entitled Music Speaks.  In the meantime, she will be enjoying the American Idol tour 2013 with 10 other contestants she competed with during the show.  The tour begins June 29th in Kansas City, Missouri and wraps up August 31 in Nashville, TN

My favorite Idols who made it to the Top 10:
1.  Curtis on American idol 2013.  He was so brave to perform with his soulful gospel voice.  He really wasn't an American Idol pleaser, but her definitely didn't mind letting us know he was God pleaser.  This man could hit a note like no other than I have heard before. Listen as sings Fantasia's I Believe. For me he was better suited for a gospel show, but maybe he wants to do more than that and really that is one of biggest questions, "why did he try for American Idol rather than a gospel competition show?" 

2. Burnell was an American Idol pleaser.  Love his raspy voice tho!

3. Surprisingly enough! Lazaro was my favorite.  Honey he just did his own thing, but my favorite performance was the "We are the Champions. "

As a finalist on "American Idol,"  a transformation takes place.  Entering into the Top 10 on the show, the contestants begin receiving the full star treatment, with hair, makeup, and wardrobe being professionally done for them before every photo shoot, dress rehearsal, performance and results show. 

For most contestants, this makeover brings dramatic change.  Just two short months ago, they were regular people, with regular jobs, living regular lives in regular clothes. 

When St. Helena Island native Candice Glover left her job as an excursions coordinator to compete on "Idol,"  she also left behind the Fripp Island Resort blue polo that she wore to work. 

These days her uniform reflects her aspirations. 

STAR POWER

The "American Idol" makeovers help give the rising stars newfound confidence.  "It helps you have more star power,"  Kudelka said.  "You can see everyone growing and becoming more of an artist and getting a signature style to them.

The signature style for contestant Burnell Taylor is bowties.  Lazaro Arbos is know for his bright color, wearing a turquoise blazer in the Top 10 and a yellow blazer the next week.  Janelle Taylor favors a mere neutral color wheel, with lots of peaches and beiges for a country look. 

For Candice Glover, it's been blazers, high heels and leggings.  She's curvy, but she's got curves in all the good places, Kudelka said.  "She's definitely open to fashion.  And she wears the clothes really well, so it's fun to dress her." 


While purple is Glover's favorite color and has become a trademark of her fanbase, she hasn't worn the color on the show yet, except for a steak colored in her hair. 

When it comes to on-stage attire, the singer sticks with a different hue.  "I love black,"  Glover said Tuesday in a phone interview.

Kudelka said black is the color of stars, a dramatic choice that emits a powerful aura. 

"Most artists in concert usually wind up in a black something," she said. 

Black clothing also opens the door to brighter accessories, or the "statement pieces," Kudelka says Glover wears so well.

"Whether it's the big earrings or a big necklace, she loves bold pieces, and she really can handle good statement pieces," she said.  "Because we like such fun jewelry on her, it gives it a nice palette, a blank slate."

Let me just start off by saying "You better play that piano Alicia Keys!"

Just in case you missed Alicia Keys make over, don't stress, because not much has change.  But what I have notice is...the braids are gone...hopefully forever, she has turned her grown woman sexy up, and honey she is looking fierce.  Just look at her and she is rocking that BOB.

I was really happy Idol step up and bought in a big name African American artist other than Fantasia on the show.  I would have loved, loved, loved to see Beyoncé, but Alicia Keys was a nice fill in (no shade thrown).  She sung the heck out of that song off her new album called "Tears Always Win." 

Find Out  Who Was Voted Off:  When Angie Miller's name was called to be voted off last night on American Idol season 12, my jaw dropped to the floor.  I was such in an awful shock.  I felt like I kind of blank out for a moment, because I was yelling, screaming, but cheering at the television all at the same time.  My originally thoughts on who was going to be the top two female girls were Angie and Candice Glover.  Here is why:

 I thought this was what American Idol was looking for in a contestant this season.

That statement could have been true for Candice and Kree last night too!  But here's another thought to ponder on.  Did you feel like me and think Angie was kind of cocky Wednesday night.  You know Nicki said she looked so comfortable on the stage and Angie's response was she had a new pride about herself after leaving her hometown's parade, because they showed her so much love.  But maybe Angie you should have been more humble like the other two contestants, not to say she wasn't, but her confident level Wednesday was a little more than I could handle.  I believe Candice and Kree are the right choice for the top 2, but I have also notice how much they are alike in so many ways.  Why do you say that Queen Moore?  Here's why:

1.  The obvious one is they are Plus Size Diva's.  Did you catch that? 
2.  Soul singers (Did you hear Kree sing Have You Ever Been in Love By Celine Dion). Um...Fabulous!
3.  And what my third eye has notice about these ladies is they are the judge's favorites. 

Angie was really a competition in a box by herself, but the other two sisters are in a competition that is just too close for me to call who will be crown the new season 12 American Idol Winner. 

Did Idol Really just show that lame Song of Mariah Carey: One thing I wasn't thrilled, excited to see, or wanted more of was from Mariah Carey's new single called "Beautiful" featuring Miguel.  American Idol did a world premier on the video and don't get me wrong it was a beautiful video, but the style of the song was a different sound from her.  Please don't hate me for going so hard on her, but geesh I absolutely hated it...along with her outfit from Wednesday night too!

IN OTHER NEWS: My favorite performance ever from Angie Miller is "Halo," but I love her originally song too!

The more I look at that outfit, the more I hate it.  However she looks good now compared to the picture below.

Mariah Carey on American Idol last night was not sizzling hot, but her stomach was.  Darling it shows that you have been working on your mid section.  I absolutely hated what you had on tonight and I really felt you should of wore something else to show us that the baby weight is gone.  But compared to how we saw you in January, we can definitely see the transformation. 

This is Mariah Carey earlier in the season of American Idol Season 12.  Her twins hadn't quite turned a year yet and as we know after carrying one baby full term, carrying two babies could make it more difficult to lose the baby weight.

didn't realize it had been two years already since the couple had their twins.  I absolutely love this picture.  Doesn't Nick Cannon look like a dad?  To be honest with you he looks like a little brother to Mariah and a big brother to the twins.  He is actually 33 years old and Mariah is about 10 years older than him, putting her at 43 years old.

My favorite idol Candice Glover

We also saw a glimpse of the parades in the contestants home town.  I was of course touched by the ladies home town love.  My favorite was Candice Glover, because she made me teary eyed.

 

Kree Harrison's hometown love was very emotional too!  One thing I believe that has to be hard for her is to go through this American Idol journey with neither parent.  Her dad died in a plane crash and her mother died in a car accident when she was younger.   Nicki Minaj said it best "that people don't understand how strong and young she is to not have both parents."

Live! American Idol Season 12, Episode 32

The top 4 singers Amber Holcomb, Angie Miller, Kree Harrison, and Candice Glover compete for a second time.  The votes from April 24 and May 1 will be combined to determine the three finalists.  A few of the guest in the audience tonight were Babyface and Carole Bayer Sager.   


American Idol Season 12 Episode 32: Kree, Amber, Candice, & Angie

 My Eyes Are Always glued to Nicki Minaj:  As I was watching the judges walk out from backstage at the beginning of Idol, I noticed how I always have my eyes glued to the television to see what costume Nicki Minaj will have on next.  I did notice she had on her black wig with the pretty bangs, but I really didn't pay any attention to Mrs. Mariah Carey, but that's not anything new!  However, I will say Mariah was speaking up tonight and she gave Miss Nicki Minaj a little shade honey.  I have actually been hearing they are thinking about replacing Mariah Carey with Jennifer Lopez.  So, does that mean it's going to be another season of American Idol in 2014 or is American Idol just blowing smoke...Hmmm (What are your takes on this)?

Tonight the top 4 American Idol girls will be singing two themes, which are "songs from 2013, followed by "Standards" with help of mentor Harry Connick Jr. 

Angie went first performing Rihanna's single "Diamond."  All of the judges hated her performance and so did I.  Nicki Minaj told Angie this actually seem different than any of your other piano performances I ever witness, because normally when you are on the piano you're so connected and it's almost like you want to be a fly on the wall in Angie's room.  This one you kind of was making more eye contact with the audience, trying to boast the performance more with your body and less with your heart.  It was bland, it was lack luster.  You can do a lot better.

Yes, indeed you can Angie.  I really like her and if it wasn't from that Halo's performance 2 weeks ago, which might I add stills has me flying in the sky with you girl, I would say this performance was pretty weak. 

Amber Holcomb sung Pink's Give Me a Reason.  Randy's critique was right on point when he said during a lot of the previous seasons in this point of the competition, the fun goes away and everyone is thinking about the end.  Then he ask Amber did she have fun and she pretty much said NO.  Her performance was not stellar and it needs to be stellar at this point.  Mariah stated before Amber performed her second song that she believed Amber would bring the stellar performance and then some...

To be honest Amber I couldn't wait until the song was over.  However, I love the fact that your dad was crying.  Do you remember before Lazaro got voted off of Idol?  Remember when I said it looks like he just gave up and his demeanor was just off?  That's how I felt about you tonight Amber.  I wish you wouldn't give up that easy dear. 

Candice Glover blew us out of your world with Bruno Mars When I Was Your Man.  She said she did the song, because it was coming from a man's point of view and wanted to tell a story of what he went through.  You know I think me and Harry Connick Jr heard something a little different in your voice tonight.  I heard country, but Harry Connick Jr. heard pop.  It was very nice to hear a different sound from you tonight!  Once, again girl when you hit those high notes, it sends chills up and down my arms.  I just want you to know if you were a man singing like that to me honey child, I couldn't resist you. 

Randy said you can sing anything.  Mariah told you, that you will find songs to suit you and that is what makes you different from the other competitor's.  Keith said he didn't care about the man thing at all, she could of sing it to him if he was giraffe...lol and Miss Nicki Minaj said that performance deserved a standing ovation.  Oh, and then Miss Minaj said she is not sure if you lost some weight, but you look great and honey I agree!  Yay Candice, well done!!!!

Kree Harrison spent her time with Harry practicing Carrie Underwood's See You Again.  She states she really needs to connect with the crowd again.  Harry loved Kree's version of Carrie Underwood's song and also he would say yes to helping  Kree with her record if she called him for help.  WOW!!! 

Mariah stated with this being the brand new single from Carrie Underwood she felt like Kree was connected and deliver the soul even though she didn't go wild at the end with her vocals.  I agree with Keith that song was power ballad and there was conflict of what we were seeing.  Meaning the conflict is what we are seeing and feeling, so you keep waiting for the thing to be bigger,  because that's what I'm hearing, but the environment was more of a quiet scene.  Nicki Minaj stated she love the performance!

Struggling with Weight loss: I've Been Eating This Way My Entire Life

I have been on a Biggest Loser Challenge with my church Family for almost 2 months.  Overall, I have lost 7 pounds in about 7 weeks.  Just over a year ago I lost 25 pounds before beginning this challenge without working out and eating right.  So, that's a total weight loss of 32 pounds.  I'm very proud of where I'm headed, but geesh I wish I was way lighter than I am now. 

6 things, I have changed within the last 7 weeks are:

1. No Sodas
2. I eat out maybe 4 times a month
3. Exercise at least 45 minutes 6-7 days a week.  Sometimes I can get 90 minutes if I feel energized.
4. My calorie intake is 1300 on a normal day, but no more than 1500 calories on a lazy day.
5. ELIMINATED SWEETS! This is a big one for me.  I still eat sweets, but my intake is way less than what it use to be. 
6. Eat what you want, but in moderation.  Ex 1: If you want McDonald's, than eat the burger, grab a diet drink or water, and absolutely no French fries.  Ex 2: If you like soda's try a diet soda.  Diet Dr. Pepper is just a good as a regular Dr. Pepper and so is Pepsi Max zero calories. 

So, with those few things decreased in my life I would have thought I would have been 20 pounds lighter rather than just the 7 pounds for the last 7 weeks.  The truth is, it's a struggle everyday.  I struggle to:

1. Exercise
2. Eat right
3. Plan my meals

I've been eating whatever I want for my entire life.  So rather than completely giving up, I try to look at this challenge as a lifestyle change.  Therefore, when the challenge is over I will and can continue this journey. 

I wanted to share with you some weight loss stories from the Internet and from Celeb's.

Jennifer Hudson just look so blessed!  You know she is on that weight watchers diet.  That's why I say she look so bless, because I can't eat that diet food.  I have tried it and literally got sick from it.  Instead I eat in moderation and control portion size.  Which is really what weight watcher in my opinion is all about.  But you go Jenn!  One more thing!  You know when you have been a big girl all your life, your face bone is one thing the doctor or no work out can change.  I'm not trying to put her down, but her head looks slightly big for her body.

I love me some Queen Latifah. Her weight to me fluctuates, but  no matter if she is the girl to the left or the right she is so beautiful to me.  Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, Cover Girl!

Now my next Celebrity weight loss guest has really shed the pounds.  I'm very interested to see  how Monique Hicks did it.  One fact I do know is she is happy regardless of her size.  And do you see what I'm talking about when I say the face size never really goes.  Like you know some of the excess weight disappears from it, but the head size remains the same.
